St Thomas More is a good school (Ofsted 2019) committed to high standards of growth and professional development. The school is popular – always oversubscribed beyond our admission limit – and well respected in the local community. We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network.
“The Catholic Faith and ethos of the school are promoted and celebrated by school
leaders, staff and governors, through personal example and encouragement. The standards of behaviour in school are outstanding: all students demonstrate very positive attitudes in all aspects of their life and interactions; everyone is made to feel welcome, valued and respected in a truly inclusive school community.” Section 48 Report June 2016
We are seeking to appoint a Head of RE to lead our experienced group of qualified practitioners.
The RE Department at St Thomas More Catholic School consists of an aspirational team of colleagues who are experts in their field. The spiritual, pastoral, social and academic needs of the children in our care is at the centre of all we do. A member of the Black Country Cluster and Walsall Catholic Schools Cluster, we engage and collaborate on a variety of levels with local Catholic Primary and Secondary schools in a range of activities and enjoy solid and continuously improving links with our local parishes.
As a department, the academic welfare of our students at all key stages and ability levels is essential and fundamental to the continuous drive for further improvement.
Within the wider school community, the RE Department remains firmly at the centre in ensuring that, in partnership with SLT and the Headteacher, the Catholic Life of our Catholic Community is ever present, ever visible and ever developing.
In return our school can offer you a welcoming and inclusive environment, with a culture of openness and transparency. We value highly the wellbeing of all our staff and offer a number of benefits to support this. You’ll also benefit from support, mentoring and development tailored to you, for example CPD supported by a range of other providers, including that offered by the BDES. Teachers flourish at St Thomas More, and we offer ongoing career advancement for teachers at all levels.
St Thomas More Catholic School is a very special place. Students are friendly, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Staff are caring, supportive and dedicated to finding the true potential in every one of our students. If you have a passion for RE and a commitment to ensuring every student achieves their very best, we want to hear from you!
